A key component of ISEN’s mission is to encourage, financially support and enlarge the scope of energy and sustainability research being done at Northwestern by faculty and students. ISEN supports this endeavor by awarding matching grants. In our first year of operation we offered 31 awards in the areas of advocacy, carbon sequestration, climate, efficiency, nuclear, policy, recycling, solar, storage, sustainability, and transportation. We encourage you to read our guidelines for applying for an ISEN faculty, equipment or student award. This information is highlighted in this section of ISEN’s web site, along with criteria and deadlines.
ISEN is pleased to have Argonne National Laboratory as our primary research partner. This year, Northwestern and Argonne researchers met a number of times to assess collaborative opportunities in the areas of energy supply and demand research including federal funding of energy research partnerships. ISEN welcomes this exciting partnership and expects that it will strengthen and grow in the coming year.
